Risks Of Facelift
- Haematoma is the most common complication of face-lift, occurring in about 1 in 30 to 1 in 20 women and 1 in 20 to 1 in 50 men.
- Nerve injury is occasionally seen after face-lift and may affect the sensation nerve leading to the earlobe or the facial nerve that makes the facial muscles move.
- Paralysis from facial nerve injuries is often temporary, but on rare occasion surgical nerve repair is needed.
- Skin sloughs occasionally occur with face-lift, but are usually confined to a small area behind the ear. This may heal in a cosmetically acceptable fashion on its own, or may require surgical revision at a later date.
