Causes of Dark Circles & Puffy Eyes

Puffiness around the eyes can be caused by lack of sleep, overwork, skin disorders and hypothyroidism. Pregnancy can cause fluid retention and puffiness around the eyes. A high-salt diet also causes fluid retention. Other causes come from toxins through alcohol and tobacco use. Hormonal changes, skin disorders and allergies affect the delicate skin around the eyes.

Despite popular belief, lack of sleep, fatigue and staying out late are not the main causes of dark circles under the eyes. Some of the more common causes are allergies, eczema, heredity, smoking, drinking, nasal congestion that dilates and darkens under-eye veins, sun exposure and thinning skin.

Fluids

The body requires liquid and if it;s not getting enough it will try to take fluids from the colon, this will make your intestinal waste drier, slower and harder to move out of the body.

To stimulate your digestive system, start each day with a warm glass of water flavored with the juice of one lemon. Throughout the day. sip 6-8 glasses of filtered water, preferably at room temperature. To get the optimum benefits from your fluids, cut out caffeine, sugar-based and fizzy drinks and instead, have herbal tea.

Water is absorbed into the bloodstream so it helps increase blood volume and stimulates the kidneys to filter the blood. It also encourages water-soluble toxins to leave the body via the urine, lungs, breathing and perspiration.

Breathing

Make a habit of breathing through your nose. As well as filtering air, the nose warms or cools carbon dioxide to the optimal temperature for entering the body.

Become aware of how shallow your breaths are and set out consciously take longer breaths and slow down your breathing pattern ( breathe in and out to the count of four).

Also, avoid smoky pubs or clubs- anything that you can smell you are also inhaling, so minimize airborne chemicals such as air fresheners, cleaning agents, insecticides or even perfumes.

Benefits of HoneyDew

Honeydew is a type of edible melon, which is an excellent source of Vitamin C. Honeydew melons are found either in green or orange flesh.

It contains few nutrients and small amounts of potassium. Honeydew is a great source of foliate that has become well known for its power to forbid birth defects and is of great importance to women of childbearing age.

Foliate is an essential component when cells are dividing rapidly because it carries fragments of proteins. One cup of honeydew has just 60 calories and provides 70 percent of our day-to-day requirement of vitamin C. It contains plenty of water too, which can keep us hydrated on a hot summer day.

It is fat-free, cholesterol free, low in sodium, yet delivers 100 percent on the critical energy component found in functional foods. The nutritional value of honeydew melon makes it an excellent choice for both weight control and general health. Honeydew melon helps prevent cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer.

Healthy Drink #6. Tomato Juice

The next drink in line for the leadership is unsalted tomato juice. It protects us against a number of cancer types. It contains a large concentration of lycopene, even more than the fruits contain themselves.

Lycopene is associated with lowered cancer risk of the following organs: mouth cavity, lungs, stomach, liver, mammary glands, uterine neck, colon and rectum. In addition, lycopene protects the heart from the action of the free radicals, and hence it reduces the risk of the cardiovascular diseases

Healthy Drink #7. Cranberry Juice

It is hard to overestimate the value of the cranberry juice. It helps prevent the gum diseases and fight the urinary tract infections. The juices sold in stores often contain sugar in them.

Healthy Drink #8. Orange Juice

Orange juice found itself in the eighth place. The juice has vitamin C, which boosts the immunity, protects from various diseases, such as cataract, cancer etc.

In addition, the orange juice is a great source of the folic acid, which is very important for the prevention of the fetal development defects.

Healthy Drink #1. Green Tea

Green tea was named to be the leader. It is valued for the flavonoids it contains, which help reduce the risk of osteoporosis, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.

In addition green tea is valued for the polyphenols and antioxidants which protect the cells from the damages and neutralise the free radicals.

Healthy Drink #2. Mint Tea

The second place went to the mint tea. It can fight an upset stomach, helps relieve colics, assists digestion by helping the food go through the gastrointestinal tract.

Healthy Drink #3. 1% Fat Milk

Applicant number three was the 1% fat milk. It contains complex carbohydrates, proteins and a little bit of fat, thus the product is digested slowly and you do not feel hunger longer.

Thanks to it the blood sugar stays stable. Milk also contains calcium and vitamin D. Calcium assists cells at burning fat, facilitating this way normal rate of weight loss.

Healthy Drink #4. Soy Milk

Next drink was the soy milk. Regular consumption of this substance helps reduce the risk of developing the cardiovascular diseases.

The dietary fibers and proteins found in the soy milk lower the level of “bad” cholesterol and triglycerides. You can not, however, completely replace the cow’s milk with the soy milk since then your body will not receive calcium and vitamin A and D.

Healthy Drink #5. Hot Chocolate

The next drink is particularly loved by children. It is the hot chocolate or cocoa. The valued properties of those drinks lie in the fact that they lighten the mood and prevent the development of the cardiovascular diseases.

In addition, cacao contains a lot of polyphenols which protect the cells from the action of the free radicals. Consumption of hot chocolate enhances production of the hormone serotonin (low levels of it have bad effect on one’s mood).

Benefits of Honey

Benefits :

4. Considered to be a swiss army knife in the world of alternative medicine.

The use :

1. Mixture of equal quantities of honey and ginger juice is a good expectorant. It helps in colds, cough, sore throat and runny nose.

2. For asthma, mix half a gram of black pepper powder with honey and ginger juice mixture. Drink this mixture a few times a day.

4. A bowl of oats porridge with a spoonful of honey will calm the nerve. Ideal to be taken before an exam.

I can fill a library with the benefit of this superb food. These are just a few examples for you. Start taking honey today!

However, unpasteurized honey should not be taken by pregnant women. Also, make sure you only buy cold-pressed honey because heated honey contains additives, so it may not be able to retain its healing properties.

This week is Honey Week ^_^

Every morning, or just about every morning, the first thing I do after waking up and using the bathroom (I guess you don’t need to know that part) is to make a honey + water drink. This may sound like an old wives tale or something your grandmother might have told you, but there is some serious truth behind the benefits of such a practice…I’m sure you’ll be surprised once you finish reading the information below.

First, how do you make the drink?
Simply add a teaspoon (Do Not Use Metal Spoon-Aluminium metal is harmful in acidic medium. it leaks and so, u will eat a percentage of Aluminium . That has a rule in causing Alzheimer! So never make your food acidic when u are using aluminium containers.) to a glass of natural mineral water.

Did you know that honey has been shown to be far superior to conventional antibiotics in treating infections and without the negative side effects associated with antibiotic use.
It is amazing that the bacteria-killing properties of honey increase two-fold when diluted with water. Maybe that explains why newly born bees are nourished with diluted honey.
Also, when honey is mixed with water, a chemical reaction takes place resulting in the creation of hydrogen peroxide, the most powerful natural antibiotic. Unlike the hydrogen peroxide purchased in the pharmacy, the one produced by the above mixture is natural and therefore protects itself from being associated with conventional man-made antibiotics and their negative effects.

It only takes approximately 7 minutes for the honey + water mixture to diffuse into the bloodstream – ready to fight the bad stuff!

Apparently Mr. Hippocrates (430BC approx.) used two different honey mixtures, sometimes mixing the honey with vinegar and sometimes with water. He found that the honey water solution was far superior in treating wounds, though he probably did not know why.

Remember remember, use organic, unpasteurised (unpasteruized for my American readers :) ) and unfiltered honey – and to really be picky: try to source honey of locality, i.e. produced near to where you live (though this is not essential, it is very beneficial!)

So I guess you’ll be having a honey water beverage tomorrow morning?

Curing Constipation

Constipation may be caused by many factors. Taking certain medications such as sedatives and antidepressants could be one reason. Others could be due to any special diet that consists of soft or liquid foods, which are low in fiber/ being physically less active. There a few ways to manage your constipation:

1) Drink at least 8-10 glasses of fluid a day. this will help soften your stool.

2) Reduce your intake of high fiber food if you are using medications that have made you constipated. These foods can make constipation worse for some people on medications. If you are not using medications that cause constipation, try using high fiber foods to help soften your stool.

3) Exercise regularly. It helps to ease constipation.
